Thursday, October 15th Bolingbrook VS Joliet (Conference Championship on the line) Bolingbrook Won 3-1 Bolingbrook took on Joliet for the SWSC Conference title on Thursday night. It was Teacher Appreciation night for the Raiders who were searching for there first conference title in over 10 years. The Raiders were determined from the start to show the conference that we can play soccer with any team. The Raiders came out firing early getting a early goal from Arturo Cruz who carolled a loose ball and a volleyed it from 30 yards out that caught the goalie to far out. Bolingbrook took the early 1-0 lead. The Steelmen were determined to counter with a goal of there own. Francisco Luna came up with big saves in the goal tonight for Bolingbrook. The Raiders defense the first half only allow 3 shots on goal by Joliet the first half. Halftime lead was 1-0. The Steelmen started off the second half on a mission to tie the game and get back the momentum. Minutes later Octavio Ceballos had a strike from 25 yards out that found the back of the net with the defense blocking the keepers view Joliet knotted the game at 1-1. But the Raiders kept there composure like they have all season and answered minutes later with the go ahead goal from Arturo Cruz who was streaking down the sideline where brother Alex Cruz fed him for the 2-1 lead. The Raiders and Steelmen fought hard all game for ever 50/50 ball and any advantage to keep the game close. In the closing minutes Alex Cruz found brother Arturo Cruz once again making a backside through run and 2 touched the ball past the keeper to put the game away for the Raiders. The Raiders defense played outstanding only allowing 7 shots on goal the entire game lead by Steven Biala, Christian Ontiveros, Jose Del Valle, Erik Ontiveros and Edwin Gonzalez. They are to be commended for shutting down Joliet's outstanding offensive attack.
