Friday, October 16th Bolingbrook Regional Bolingbrook VS Plainfield East Bolingbrook Won 5-0Bolingbrook played host to Plainfield East in the 1st Round of the Bolingbrook Regional. Bolingbrook came out hungry to beat Plainfield East after a thrilling victory over Joliet last night 3-1 that clinched their first title in 10 years. Bolingbrook looked sluggish to start the game but Arturo Cruz continued were he left off last night with his first goal of the evening. Alex Cruz found brother Arturo Cruz on a through ball backside that Arturo Cruz touched far post to take the 1-0 lead. A few minutes later the Raiders struck again with a goal by Jonathan Anguiano from a well placed pass from Charlie Hanson. The lead was now 2-0. Arturo Cruz scored 2 more goals to end the half on through balls from Humberto Zermeno and Marcos Gomez. The halftime score was 4-0. Bolingbrook came out the second half with several players getting minutes off the bench. Marcos Gomez ended the scoring for the Raiders in the last few minutes of the game on a well placed free kick that went back corner for the 5-0 victory. Francisco Luna was big in the goal again for the Raiders with 4 saves for his 6th shutout of the season and a 14-7 record as a varsity keeper and he is only a sophomore. Arturo Cruz had a hat trick for the 3rd time in as many games. He has 9 of the teams last 11 goals and 18 on the season. The Raiders are hitting on all cylinders at the right time and look to build on there success this season with winning a conference title and advance to the regional finals. The Raiders will play host to powerhouse Wheaton Warrenville South on Tuesday at 4:00pm for the right to play in the Regional Championship that has eluded Bolingbrook for so long.
