Crazy Week Ahead for Charger Fans
It is a great time to be a fan of Charger Athletics! Last Friday night, the boys' soccer team claimed the Sectional title by defeating Springfield High School 2-1 in the 3rd overtime. Jacob Bushue's penalty kick sends the Chargers to the Springfield Super-Sectional on Tuesday, November 3rd against Troy (Triad). This will be a 3 p.m. start. The winning team will advance to the State Finals in Naperville this weekend.
On Saturday morning, the boys and girls cross country teams competed in their respective Sectional meets in Decatur. Each team placed 5th, which is good enough to earn them a birth in the State Finals this weekend in Peoria. Ryan Root won the individual title on the boys' side to lead the way for Centennial, while Neli Crawford was the top finisher for the girls.
To finish things off for the weekend, the volleyball team won their third consecutive Regional title by defeating Urbana on Saturday afternoon. The girls will now play in the Lincoln Sectional tournament this week starting Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against the host school. If the team keeps winning, the championship would be Thursday night and Super-Sectionals would be Saturday.
