Volleyball advances to Regional Final

Centennial had to await Thursday's 5:30 p.m. playoff match between Decatur Eisenhower and Decatur MacArthur to know for sure who they would face to begin their postseason at 7:30 p.m. MacArthur emerged and took the court to face the Chargers.

The Chargers start was effectively flawless, leading 15-1. Kara Johnson provided the service run, ending the night with 6 aces. The Chargers never again left any doubt, finishing the match quickly in a two-set sweep. Alysson Gatens' eight kills led the offense. Melanie Moore had 18 assists and 2 kills. Morgan Leech and Kelly Wachtel added 4 kills each.

Centennial faces Urbana at Mt. Zion for the Regional title on Saturday at 1 p.m.
