"Katz helps Illiniois all-stars beat Indiana all-stars"

Josh Katz beat his opponent from Indiana, who was a 3x Indiana State place winner, 3-2 in exciting fashion Sunday, March 14th. Josh's win helped Illinois's top all-star team beat Indiana's top all-star team in convincing fashion. This enabled Josh to finish his terrific high school career with a win. Josh had earned 4th place in Illinois State Tournament Championships in February.

"Bloom fresh/soph wrestling state champion!"

Lenny Bloom continued the Deerfield Wrestling Team success at state tournaments this year by placing 1st in the freshmen/sophomore state tournament. Lenny finished his excellent sophomore season on varsity by making it to the championship match and beating a St. Charles East Wrestler in overtime to secure 1st place in state at 135 lbs. The last DHS wrestler to place in fresh/soph state was Jeremy Fahler who place 1st in 2007. Jeremy placed 5th in the regular state series this year. Josh Katz placed 4th in state this year.

Keven Hoogheem, Christian Hoogheem, and Jack Eisman each had a good tournament but just fell short on their bids to place in state.
