DFDC Qualifies for Sectionals
On Saturday Oct 24th the DFDC traveled to Lake Forest West Campus to compete in the 2009 IHSA Regional. The course was very muddy and soft and this caused for some interesting race elements. The team had its sights on a Top 2 Regional finish; however a slow start really hurt them and they had to work the rest of the race extremely hard to get back into a solid qualifying position in the last 1.5 miles. They boys had a very nice 2nd ½ of the race as they moved up and caught rival Highland Park to finish 4th place out of 7 teams with 92 points ahead of HP’s 112 BUT behind Champion Lake Forests 46, 2nd and 3rd place GBN and GBS with 62 pts respectively. The boys now focus on the Sectionals and having their best race of the season when it most counts.
Special mention goes to:
Pat Wylie as he went for the win and hung on to the 1st place runner as long as he could to finish as a TOP 5 medalist in 4th place.
Also, Sophomore Makoto Bowering continues to race with no fear and just keep throwing himself out to the front of the race and goes!
Finally, Senior Mike Bukszar had a fantastic race as he just pushed with a huge 2nd Mile and continues to really put his practices into the races.

Next up is the Schaumburg SECTIONAL meet held at Busse Woods.
Boys race is at 11:00 Saturday Oct 31st
