Warrior Wrestlers Go To Nationals

Josh Katz and Lenny Bloom represented Illinois well in the Greco and Freestyle nationals in Fargo ND last week. They both won a match and helped Illinois take 1^st place in junior Greco and third in junior Freestyle with 46 states represented and also placing top 5 in both Greco and Freestyle in the cadet division.

Each wrestler earned valuable experience wrestling in brackets of anywhere from 70-80 of the top wrestlers in the country. They were also able to train with the top wrestlers in the state at the training camp at U of I.

I hope we have more national qualifiers next year.

Summer Alumni Meet and BBQ

The first annual Alumni Meet and BBQ was a lot of fun and well attended. We had more than 70 people participate in the meet and dinner. The matches had alumni wrestlers spanning 35 years of DHS wrestling participating with the current and future Warrior team. Coach Pechter refereed the matches, bending the rules and scoring appropriately! This event raised $1,600 for the team’s matching funds program for the new mat. Many thanks to all for the contributions and strong support making this event so successful.
