Senior Jeffrey Brown (49-1) defeated Hinsdale Central's Jack Allen (43-2) by a score of 3-1 with a tkedown in the final seconds of the IHSA wrestling championship heavyweight bout February 20th. Brown is the first State champ at ETHS since Shannyn Gillespie in 1989 and becomes the 11th wrestling State champion in ETHS history. He joins elite company as only the 2nd ETHS heavyweight State champion. Bob Pickens took the title in 1961 (2nd in '62) and went on to play football for the Chicago Bears. Brown will attend the University of Miami (FL) on a football scholarship in the fall.
