Senior Marta Korpacz placed fourth in 19:40 to lead the girls team.

Korpacz ran a strong first lap staying with the lead runners. However, the second time around the course, she started to falter a bit to drop back.

"I did well, but I could have done better," Korpacz said. "I don't know what happened. I finished about five seconds off my best time. I love this course. It's my second time running it."

As a team, Leyden finished fourth with 89 points. Downers Grove South took first-place honors with 32, while Hinsdale South was runner-up with 53. Willowbrook came in third (59) and Morton was fifth (107). Both Addison Trail and Proviso East had only four finishers, so they did not score any team points.

The next competitor in for the Eagles was Kristen Jones, who placed 19th in 20:47. Summer Garcia finished two spots later in 21:04 and Anna Perkowski was right behind Garcia with a time of 21:07. Right behind Perkowski came Megan Murphy in 21:10. Brooke Fink placed 33rd in 22:50 and Christa Pitts was 34th in 23:04.

The girls are also at the Lake Park Regional at 10 a.m. Saturday.
