SWSC CROSS COUNTRY: BOYS 1ST; GIRLS 3RD--READY TO DEFEND REGIONAL TITLES

LOCKPORT -- Maybe it was home field advantage, maybe it wasn't. Either way, Lockport won the boys title at the Southwest Suburban Blue cross country meet Saturday at Dellwood Park.

The Porters finished with 28 points, beating Sandburg's total of 32.

Sandburg's Lukas Verzbicas won the individual title with a time of 15:17 on the 3-mile course, but Lockport had the second, third, fourth, sixth and 13th-place finishers to come away with the team trophy.

David Inczauskis clocked a 16:31.05 to take second, followed closely by teammate David Sajdak in 16:31.38. Joe Oldendorf wsa fourth in 16:38.45, while Thomas Razo took sixth in 16:47.20. Scott Hickstein rounded out the Lockport scoring by taking 13th in 17:18.74.

Lincoln-Way East finished third in the team competition with 94 points, followed by Joliet Township with 120. Linciln-Way Central was sixth with 184, while Bolingbrook took sevneth with 200.

In the Red, Lincoln-Way North finished second with 64 points, behind Stagg's total of 34. Linciln-Way West finished fourth with 98 points.

Joe Niendorf led North with a third place finish in 17:05.12, while Julies Medes was fifth in 17:24.69. John Satkas was 22nd in 18:47.35, while Ian Toppett (19:26.87) finished 30th.

In the girls race, Lincoln-Way East finished second in the Blue, the Griffins' 57 points trailing just Sandburg's 25. Lockport (62) was third, followed by Lincoln-Way Central (89), Bolingbrook (150) and Joliet Township (175).

Lockport's Megan O'Brien finished second overall with a time of 18:46.76, while East's Catriona McClowry (19:51.34) was fifth and Nicole Nepote (20:10.17) was sixth. Lincoln-Way Central's top runner, Alena Pacheco, finshed eighth with a time of 20:24.04.

In the Red, Lincoln-Way North took second with 49 points, behind Andrew's total of 37. Lincoln-Way West was third with 55.

Monica Hahn of Lincoln-Way West finished second overall in 19:31.82, while North's Jordan Wallace was fourth in 19:58.68. Marissa Jones of North was sixth in 20:45.01, while teammate Taylor Schissler was eighth in 20:50.98.
