Varsity Boys Cross Country Wins Regional Title; Girls Finish Second
The varsity boys cross country team won the regional title on Saturday morning on a muddy and chilly course at Maxwell Park. Drew Kerschieter appeared to be the individual winner; however, he was eventually disqualified for running on the wrong side of the final turn marker. It was an area of the course that had been modified earlier in the morning because of standing water on the course. The Wildcats scored 43 points as Bryce Basting (4th), Peyton Scheuermann (6th), Hayden Ringer (7th), Roman Endrizzi (12th), and Tyler Becker (14th) led the way.
In another thrilling girls race, the varsity girls cross country team finished second as NCHS edged them in points 58-59. Bailey Kerschieter finished sixth, and Taryn Basting finished eighth to lead the Wildcats.
Both the boys and girls teams qualify to the sectional to be hosted on Saturday, October 31 at Maxwell Park.
