No Quit In Upset Minded Volleyball Team
The Eagles came in seeded 10th overall and second in their pool Friday night at the daunting Mother McAuley Asics Challenge. They left Palos Courts with two wins and a trip to the Gold Division on Saturday. Crystal Lake South, boasting five six-footers plus, went down 25-16 25-18. Although the Lady Eagles won in convincing fashion, it should be noted that CLS came in 14-1 and on the bubble in both state and national rankings. The second match of the night pitted #89 in the country Gross Catholic from Omaha Nebraska. After winning the first game 25-19, the second game was a different story with the opponent taking an 13-18 lead over the Eagles. Coming out from a time out, the team rallied together to get to within 19-23. The team sided out to make it 20-23 and Amanda Kijewski performed brilliantly in serving the next five points. The team finished higher than teams ranked 38, 53, and 63 in the nation but will have their hands full with the possibility of playing #3, 7, 10, 12 25, and 39! Go Eagles!
