Description:
The Culinary Summer Camp is designed to give students a hands-on experience of cooking foods they will enjoy making and eating in the future, and the opportunity to visit places of culinary interest.
The tentative schedule for the week will include
Breakfast Anytime – Cooking with eggs. This will include creating and eating dishes whose main ingredient is the versatile egg. Omelettes, quiches and what you can do with a hardboiled egg will be the focus of this session.
Oberweiss Dairy – Participants will have the opportunity to visit the nearby Oberweiss Dairy and sample some of their delicious ice cream.
College of DuPage School of Culinary Arts - This excursion will give participants a chance to see a real culinary school in action.
Simply Simple Snacks - Ideas for interesting, tasty and nutritious after school and weekend snacks.
Possible Other Field Trip – A trip to Eli’s Cheesecake factory/or visit to a Restaurant supply company.
Times may be extended earlier or later depending on field trip locations.
Price includes all materials, recipe binder, and apron.
A minimum of 10 students will be required to hold the camp.

Auditions for the 2012-2013 Jazz Ensemble will take place in late May/early June and students are encouraged to contact Mr. Mamminga about audition materials. The camp will feature working on several songs as well as working with clinicians and experts in their field on improvisation, sectionals, style and genre.
