DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING JANUARY 9,

Principal’s Board of

Assignment chairman
pay increase was tabled until next meeting. o
Hillcrest –
Eisenhower girls’ basketball game was brought up. Lopsided score 95-9.
Hillcrest handled it internally.
Athletic directors felt it was an isolated incident and we shouldn’t
overreact. Eisenhower was satisfied
with how Hillcrest handled the situation. o
Jim Utterback attended
and answered questions regarding boys’ basketball. o
Principals’ Board of
Control and SICA Board of Control will send a letter to IHSA re: next year’s
playoffs. ·
Handbook Revisions o
Softball motion made that
the host school provide a side by side safety base at first base, home plate,
pitcher’s plate and two official .47 coefficient cork game balls. Bob Lightell motioned, seconded by Larry
Bernard, approved 32-0. ·
Greg Gornik made the motion to have a 15 run rule after
three innings or 10 run rule after 5 innings, seconded by Dave Brost. Motion passed 27-2-0. ·
Motion made by Jimmy
Daniels, seconded by Mark Sutton to have Section 18 of handbook eliminated from
handbook. Passed 25-0-2. ·
Larry Bernard talked
about streamlining the conference rules.
He stated he’s confused about what SICA rules and regulations are meant
to be. ·
Motion made by Bob
Mitchell to make girls’ all-conference selection the same as the boys’
all-conference selection, seconded by Paul Rybarzyk. Approved 29-0. o
Soccer motion made by
Dennis Michels, seconded by Ken Schultz to go to two ten-minute sudden death
periods. Vote 9-16-4 – did not pass. ·
Motion by Dennis
Michels, seconded by Larry Bernard to add the word freshman to Section
9-4-2. Approved 29-0. ·
Motion by Ken Schultz
to eliminate double round-robin and to to a single round-robin. No second – motion died. ·

Realignment
discussion – Girls’ Golf and Girls’ Swim – need to move one school in each of
these sports to make conferences 7 and 7, instead of 8 and 6 as it is now. o
Girls’ Golf Len Motta motioned, seconded by Bob
Lightell to move Homewood-Flossmoor to South Central for 2002-03 school
year. Motion approved 12-3-4. ·
Gwaine Perkins
motioned that the above motion be amended to read that H-F will be put into
conference tournament for 2003-04, seconded by Mark Hopman. Motion defeated 4-7-17. ·
Motion made by Scott
Loess to amend conference schedule for South Central to include
Homewood-Flossmoor. Passed 12-0-17. o
Girls’ Swim Ken Schultz
motioned to move Thornwood from the West to the Central Division. Approved 21-0-8. ·
Dennis Michels
motioned, seconded by Kent Irvin to revise swim schedules for next year. Passed 12-0-8. ·

Discussion on how to handle 2 games on same night – boys’ and girls’
varsity basketball. What price should
be charged - $3.00 or $4.00.
Recommendation was to charge the higher price. ·
Football revisions –
Wednesday, January 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at Bolingbrook High School. Motion
to adjourn made by Larry Bernard, seconded by Dennis Michels. SICA WEST
