Meeting Minutes

 

I.    Welcome
  • Dennis Michels opened the meeting with a welcome and introduced a special guest, Janet Konrath. Janet discussed the upcoming Midwest Suburban Publishers effort on behalf of Rocky Clark. School participation information should be finalized as soon as possible.
II. Winter Schedules for Next Two Years – Rich Piatchek
  • Winter schedules were distributed. Lincoln-Way East was not entered in Bowling.
III. Assignment Chair Evaluation – Lisa Ferry
  • Lisa Ferry indicated that all chair evaluations had been mailed and copies forwarded to each athletic director.
IV.Technology Committee Report
  • Jimmy Daniels has not received most of the recent school information needed for the Web page. There appears to be numerous technical reasons for the delays. Additional templates were distributed to the general body.
V.  Principals’ Board of Control Report – Dennis Michels
  • Officials’ pay scale was accepted.
  • Increase in admission proposal was accepted.
  • Assignment Chair evaluations were shared with the Principals’ Board of Control.
  • An update of technology and the $250.00 fee was discussed.
  • Details on the upcoming Sportsmanship Clinic were shared.
  • The principal shared perspectives on the Rocky Clark situation.
VI. Sportsmanship Seminar Report – Homer Thomas
  • Homer Thomas reported on the Sportsmanship Clinic at Richards on February 11, 2001. Homer also distributed a tentative program outline.
VII. Reminder
  • Schedules are due to assignment chairs for varsity and sophomore football, girls’ swimming and girls’ volleyball on January 1st.
VIII.Report for National Convention - Volunteers
  • Ken Shultz gave a brief report on National Convention highlights. One issue that received major discussion was the proposal to pay high school athletes.
IX. Letter from IADA Conference Chairman
  • Dennis Michels shared a letter from the IADA Conference Chair, encouraging members to participate in the swap table. Swap table materials should be setup at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2000.
X Old Business
  • Bob Mitchell shared difficulties in contacting Jim Utterback and Tom O’Neill.
  • Bob Lightell stated the Rick O’Neill is not registered with the IHSA.
  • Dennis Schley is concerned with having the same official six times for boys’ basketball.
  • Dennis Michels shared Terry Lacy’s concern regarding gymnastics officials’ pay.
  • Motion by Ken Shultz to pay gymnastics officials at contracted dual meet rate. Seconded by Jimmy Daniels. Motion carried 10 yes, 0 no, 19 abstain.
  • Tom Sidote reminded everyone of the $225.00 web site fee.
XI. New Business
  • Joe Skowronski recognized Todd Shafer for his new appointment as Associate Principal, Shepard High School.
  • Tom Sidote asked if anyone had scheduled Bogan High School for football.
