DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 7,
2002
MINUTES
Meeting
called to order by Lisa Ferry at 10:00 a.m. after winter scheduling took place
from 8:00-10:00 a.m.
· Rich Piatchek
gave IHSA report
o
Football next year will be seeded in four groups of eight
o
Girls’ golf will continue to have one class
o
No changes in cross country.
o
Volleyball will go to sectional complex next year.
o
Wrestling weight control
- will move toward body fat testing
o
Sectional and super sectional complex in boys baseball will
begin next year
· Handbook
Revisions
o
Baseball adjustment
in Section 2, #2 was brought up.
Discussion followed. Will
be voted on at next meeting.
o
Tennis seeding criteria
& starting time for conference meet were discussed.
Will be voted on at next meeting.
o
Football all
10 handbook changes were discussed.
Vote to be taken at next
meeting.
· Technology
update given by Jimmy Daniels
· Update –
Principals’ Board of Control
o
10% increase over two years
o
SICA Board of Control and Principals’ Board of Control sent
letter re: football realignment
o
approved Rich Township application for co-op boys’
gymnastics
o
approved girls’ golf and swim realignments
· Tinley Park –
girls’ bowling club status, and Oak Forest – boys’ volleyball club status have
both been received and will be voted on at the next meeting.
· Athletic
directors must follow SICA notebook guidelines.
· Latest and
updated spring sports official’s fees was passed out.
· Practice of
sending out contracts on hard copy will be continued.
· Revisions must
be put on disk. Include the date and
send and send to Lisa Ferry.
· It was brought
up by Gwaine Perkins that security must be provided at contests.
· Swim schedules
– revisions
· Old
Business - report on how other
conferences do all-conference given by Mike Ryan.
· Boys’ bowling
will be at seven schools next year – Reavis, Oak Lawn, Bremen, Lockport,
Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way Central, and Rich Township.
· All spring
sports coaches’ phone numbers sheets were distributed.
· Selling of
T-shirts by wrestling coaches questioned – who gave them permission?
· IADA meeting
in Springfield May 4, 5, 6, 7 at the Crown Plaza Holiday Inn.
· Murphy Golf
Outing – May 16th – report from Rich Piatchek.
