ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING

GREEN GARDEN COUNTRY CLUB

AUGUST 15, 2001

MINUTES

 

 

Meeting called to order 9:10 a.m.

 

·        Introduced new athletic directors from Argo, Shepard, Rich South.

·        Recognized all SICA schools that won state championship plaques in the 2000-2001 school year

·        Assignment chairman report on officials.

·        Les Duncan – passed out girls basketball assignments.

·        Diana Morrow – talked about the state of soccer officials.

·        Bill Laude – passed out football official’s schedules.  Encouraged schools to move JV games to Mondays.

·        Sharon Brosius – passed out volleyball official’s schedule.

·        Charlie McCarthy, swim assignment chairman – mailed out swim officials schedule

·        Update SICA information sheet.

·        J. Daniels passed out updated sheets for the website.  Asked all schools to input all home fall SICA contests by September 5, 2001.

·        Trophys-R-Us will deliver all awards to the individual schools in the next two weeks.

·        Herb Priebe sent letter regarding discrepancy in assignment pay for baseball and softball in SICA West.

·        Motion was made by D. Michels, seconded by L. Motta, to bring baseball and softball assignment chairman equal (approved 32-0).  Motion was made by R. Piatchek, seconded by K. Irvin, to increase pay by January 7, 2002 to reflect the addition of Lincoln-Way East in baseball and softball for assignment chairman fee (approved 32-0).

·        Need to revisit our SICA Constitution for any updates.

·        Motion made by D. Brost, seconded by L. Motta, for SICA to strongly encourage all schools to have in place a heat practice guideline policy (approved 31-1).

·        Notified that Kankakee is dropping boys and girls cross country.

·        Discussion on vice-president position was discussed.  This will be brought up at the next Board of Control meeting.

·        Tom Sidote will be the conference site person, replacing Ron Ray, who replaced Phil Svetich.

·        Next general meeting date is Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at Green Garden.

·        Next Board of Control meeting is Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at Green Garden, hosted by Kankakee.

·        Conference meetings reports – attached

·        T. Sidote motioned to adjourn meeting at 10:37 a.m., seconded by L. Bernard.

 

 

 

SICA WEST

·        Talked about the situation in District 230.  All SICA West schools are willing to do whatever we can regarding their problems.
