ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING

GREEN GARDEN COUNTRY CLUB

SEPTEMBER 5, 2001

MINUTES

 

 

Meeting called to order 9:06 a.m.

 

·        Tom Sidote (T.F. North) named vice-president for 2001-2002 to replace Ron Ray.

·        Updates on meeting date – refer to handout given.

·        Need a recent consitution for update changes. 

·        Reminder that there will not be a sportsmanship clinic this year.  Joliet will be host in 2002-2003 school year.

·        Spring sport chairs should have meeting with conference champion coaches.  Present at the next meeting.

·        SICA crossover discussion

·        Each school needs to send enrollment numbers to Larry Bernard (Bolingbrook) by September 30th to determine football status for 2003-2004.

·        Jimmy Daniels updated the group on technology.

·        Officials pay update revisions was passed out by Gwaine Perkins (Rich East).  Fall pay is OK.  Winter and Spring will need to be adjusted.

·        Dennis Michels (Lincoln-Way Central) and Dave Brost (Lincoln-Way East) passed out to all A.D.’s the Heat and Humidity Guidelines their school district has in place.  A brief presentation was made with a question/answer period following.

·        Lloyd Morgan registered complaint against SICA assignment chairman.

·        Reminder from Mike Kelly to fax all conference results to him.  Also send him your boys and girls basketball schedules.

·        Mixed reaction regarding increase in fees for SICA events.

·        Next meeting will be October 3rd at Green Garden.

 

OLD BUSINESS

·        Copies of fall / winter sites are passed out to each school.  Lockport replaces Joliet in boys golf.  Conference will be held at Cog Hill.

 

NEW BUSINESS

·        IHSA baseball advisory board recommended a new seeding proposal.  This will be tried this spring.

 

·        Motion to adjourn made by Tom Sidote; seconded by Larry Bernard.

 

SICA WEST

·         SICA West in favor of crossovers.

·         Stagg looking for girls gymnastics coach for 2001-2001 season

·         Lincoln-Way East looking for

1.      Assistant gymnastics coach

·         Lincoln-Way Central needs

1.      JV boys soccer games this fall

2.      Varsity, sophomore, freshman girls volleyball game this fall

3.      Varsity and frosh/soph tennis match this fall

·         Lockport is looking for sophomore “B” football game.  Please call Kent ASAP is interested.

·         Andrew looking for

1.      Boys JV soccer games for this fall – home or away.

2.      Football game for Week 1, 2002.

 

SICA EAST

OPENINGS, NEEDS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

·         Shepard looking for boys basketball game this year.

·         Homewood-Flossmoor needs

1.      JV soccer games for this year.

2.      A Week 2 football game for 2003 season.

3.      Three teams for a boys track invite on April 3, 2002.

·         Thornton may have to drop sophomore level soccer.  Will notify everyone next week.

·         Bloom Township needs

1.      Frosh boys soccer matches for next fall (2002-2003)

2.      One Varsity / Sophomore girls soccer contest for this spring (2001-2002).

 

SICA SOUTH

SICA NORTH

OPENINGS, NEEDS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

·         Argo – frosh softball coach

·         Reavis – needs freshman “B” football game on

1.      Saturday, September 22, 9 a.m., at Reavis

2.      Saturday, October 13, away, or Thursday, October 11

3.      Thursday, October 18, 4:30 p.m., at Reavis

 

SICA CENTRAL

·         T.F. South will discuss preseason parent meetings at the October meeting.
