DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING GREEN GARDEN
COUNTRY CLUB OCTOBER 3,
2001 MINUTES Meeting
called to order 9:00 a.m. · Tom Heniff,
Wrestling Assignment Chairman, passed out scheduling packet. · Les Duncan
spoke to group re: officials association giving up one game fee to go to the
9/11/01 Disaster Fund. · Dennis Schley
(Romeoville) passed out 2003-2004 football realignment. Motion by Dennis Michels (L-W Central) to
bring it to Board of Control for approval.
Motion passed 32-0. · First reading
on handbook revisions · Tom O’Neill
spoke with group. Passed out scheduling
sheet. His fax # is 708/429-3543; his
cell # is 708/906-0351. · Jimmy Daniels
(Rich Central) gave technology update. · Discussion on
soccer officials. Seems to be some
problems regarding assignment of officials and quality of officials. · Discussion
also centered on official Henry Barden.
Schools who are having problems with him are directed to call or fax Tom
Sidote (T.F. North), Vice President of SICA. · Bob Mitchell
(T.F. South) stated that he and Lisa Wunar (Hillcrest) have not had any
problems with soccer officials. · Mark Sutton
(Bradley) shared a brochure with the group that addresses extracurricular
expectations – nice resource to give to parents. · Dave Brost (L-W
East) presented the wrestling officials’ changes. Gawaine Perkins (Rich South) will fax it to all schools. Will be voted on at Board of Control meeting
on October 10. · Dave Brost
asked for permission to use SICA logos and school logos for Conference Swim
Meet. All were in agreement that this
will be OK. · Dave Brost
recommended all athletic directors remind coaches, especially football, to keep
their teams on the playing field during the playing of our National Anthem. · Sport
declarations were passed out to all conferences. · Discussion
centered on officials and cancelled games due to forces beyond a school’s
control. Are schools responsible to pay
officials? · Next meeting
will be Wednesday, November 7th at Riverside Health & Fitness,
Route 45 and St. George Rd. · Motion to

Lincoln-Way Central
needs 1. a JV team to play football on Monday at 9:30. Have officials assigned, but lost other
team. 2. a varsity volleyball team for a tournament on October 12
& 13. 16 teams, but lost one team. 3. one boys’ swimming meet for this winter. ·
Lincoln-Way East is
looking for an assistant girls’ gymnastics coach. SICA EAST OPENINGS, NEEDS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS ·
Thornwood needs 1. first game for football – 2003 2. one team – girls basketball – sophomore Christmas tourney,
December 26, 27 – three game guarantee 3. one team for sophomore volleyball tourney, October 20, 2001 ·
Bloom Township needs
freshman boys soccer contests for 2002-2003 ·
Thornridge is looking
for three teams for sophomore wrestling tournament on Saturday, December 22nd
at 9:00 a.m. - $150.00 entry fee ·
Thornton Township needs 1. two boys basketball games (home or away) 2. one girls basketball game (home or away) ·
Homewood-Flossmoor
