ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S GENERAL MEETING

DECEMBER 5, 2001

MINUTES

 

 

Meeting called to order 9:00 a.m. 

 

·        Les Duncan presented awards to SICA coaches on behalf of official’s association. Coaches honored were girls’ basketball coaches from Thornridge, Oak Lawn, and Reavis.

·        No technology report.

·        Lisa Ferry went to principal’s board of control and reported on assignment chair fees.  The proposal was tabled until next month.  Discussion followed.

·        Handbook revisions –

o        Kent Irvin on badminton passed 24-1.  New IHSA guidelines will be followed in conference. 

o       Joe Skowronski presented gymnastics proposal #9.  Motion by Dennis Michels did not get a second.  Proposal was not voted on. 

o       Mark Zych on track & field – proposal passed 31-0-1.

o       Paul Rybarczyk presented volleyball proposal that host schools provide all volleyballs prior to game.  Passed 24-3-3.

o       Motion to arrange game times mutual agreement by A.D.’s passed 32-0-0.

o       namination procedure passed 32-0.

o       First reading on softball by Tim Smith, who went over revisions/recom-mentations as per handout.

o       First reading on soccer from Len Motta, who went over revisions/recom-mendations as per handout.

·        OLD BUSINESS – Dennis Michels brought up coaches all-conference for swimming.  Wanted an explanation on why swim coaches put together an all-conference list.  Kent Irvin will research this as Lockport H.S. put this list together.

·        OLD BUSINESS – Rich Piatchek discussed football situation.  Gave Gannaway did attend May meeting of 2001 and said he discussed this situation.  Also he sent letter to football coaches’ organization and he said there was no response.

·        Len Motta brought up gymnastics quad pay for officials.  Presently is not in our pay schedule.  Motion to pay $68.00 for girls’ quad.  Approved 32-0.

·        Tom Sidote went over conference sites for fall 2002.  Also, Tom brought up fees for IADA state convention.  Dennis Michels motioned to assess $150.00 fee to each school.  Approved 32-0.

·        Recogntion went to Bolingbrook High School for making it to football semi-finals and Richards for making second in state in football

·        Motion to adjourn made by Tom Sidote, seconded by Larry Bernard.  Meeting adjourned.

 

SICA WEST

OPENINGS, NEEDS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

·         Lincoln-Way Central needs

1.      Sophomore & freshman football games for opening week next year, August 30/31.

2.      Girls’ tennis tournament, quad or dual meet for next fall.

·         Lockport needs one JV wrestling team to wrestle with Lockport & Plainfield at Lcokpor on December 27 at 10 A.M.

·         Joliet needs

1.      Football weeks one & two, 2003 all 4 levels – 2 year contract desired home & away

2.      Baseball freshman B games this spring – will lay A or B teams home or away

3.      Football, fall 2002, week two – sophomore and freshman A & B – home or away

·         Joliet has P.E. teacher opening January 8, 2002 – dance/aerobics, boys’ volleyball coaching – any student teachers

·         Lincoln-Way East needs three boys’ swim meets this year.

·         Rich Central needs

1.      JV boys basketball 01-02

2.      Boys soccer – 1 match 02-03

·         Rich East will have full-time P.E. position fall 2002.

·         Bradley needs

1.      Freshman “B” boys basketball game week of January 21-25 and February 18-22.

2.      Number of Freshman “B” girls basketball games.

 

SICA NORTH

§         Romeoville needs

1.      Sophomore boys basketball Thanksgiving tournament.

2.      Sophomore girls basketball Thanksgiving tournament.

·         Bolingbrook needs sophomore boys basketball Thanksgiving tournament.

·         Bolingbrook is looking for head football coach with high school teaching position.

·         Richards needs one team for a 2002 girls varsity Thanksgiving tournament.

·         Richards needs two basketball coaches that know something about the game.

 

SICA CENTRAL

OPENINGS, NEEDS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

§         TF South needs one girls varsity volleyball team for invitational first Saturday in October.

§         Eisenhower is still looking for a head softball coach – will finalize by Christmas break.

§         Tinley Park needs freshman football game first week of 2002 season.

Bremen needs freshman A & B football week 2 next season.
